Sunday and Monday we decided to enjoy the bank hols and take a trip to Gent in Belguim.
Couple of hours to the tunnel, 30 mins on the train and 90 mins and you are in the gorgeous town of Gent. Amazing buildings, multi coloured boats and so much going on. Many restraunts and great beer, what else could you want.
Whilst walking around i spotted a little gem. There is the Museum of Design. Some modern stuff thats ok and some fantastic early 1900s bits and pieces. Arts and Crafts design, with some great furniture and glass. What really took my fancy was the floors in the older part of the building.
Hungarian point ( mitred herringbone) beautifully polished and glowing. Laid in two widths and with a simply glorious patina.
The floor squeaked like a "good en", was gappy but it didnt make any difference, it was just lovely.
Hope you like the pics
